Marc Jacobs Highliner

Hello there wonderful humans, welcome back.

Sorry for the long leave of absence, I've had a CRAZY few months but I'm back and better than ever.

This weeks blog topic is a late review of the Marc Jacobs matte highliner I was kindly sent at the end of January in their VoxBox with Influenster campaign.

I'm going to hold my hands up and admit that prior to this being sent to me I had only tried the Velvet Noir mascara from their cosmetics line, this is mostly due to the fact I feel the price of their products is hugely ramped up because of being a big name brand.

I was sent the Earth(quake) and De Ja Blue. Earth(quake) is a deep warm toned brown colour, I believe this would be perfect for a warm smokey eye. De Ja Blue is a light blue, very cool toned and I think this would be a stunning pop of colour in the waterline.

Packaging: 10/10

No exaggeration, this is one of my favourite packaging of ALL TIME! It's so sleek, matte and stylish. This is honestly the way forward packaging wise in my opinion. I'm so sick of the over coloured rainbows and unicorns hype that's going on everything right now. For me, it's childish, tacky and does nothing for the aesthetic of my vanity meaning it goes in a drawer. So to see something a bit classier, more up market if you will, was such a refreshing change of pace.

Initial Impression:

After an in initial swatch I didn't love this, it didn't swatch well and had a strange clumpy texture. We all know swatches aren’t the be all and end all of a product so while I didn’t have high hopes at first sight, I know a swatch is almost never true to the product.

Review:i

Despite the clumpy texture during the swatch I found that this went on the eye (waterline) so smoothly and looked stunning. I loved the pop of colour brought by the De Ja Blue highliner when I used it in the waterline with an otherwise basic smokey look. I feel it really added another level and brought something different to the eye for me. As for Earth(quake) I loved this smoked out on the lid with a brown warm toned look. The pigmentation on these was lovely, I found they stayed almost all day and barely moved even when at work which is exactly what I need from an eyeliner.

Overall score: 8/10

I really enjoyed using these products and 100% will purchase some more of these in the future.
