Anti Haul #2 (maybe I actually do want to buy some things this time)

Hello Beautiful Beginners and welcome back to another blog post by yours truly.

The world of beauty moves so fast doesn't it? I was scrolling through Instagram this morning and just thinking how rapid releases are now. You don't even get chance to be excited about the last product you bought before 10 more products you like the look of pop up for you to want. This got me to thinking that it must be time for a new Anti Haul.

As I explained last time I did an Anti Haul, this trend was started by Kimberly Clark over on YouTube. And the aim of the game with this is to defy consumerism just a little and explain why you don't have to spend a crazy amount of money per month on makeup/beauty products. In an extremely capitalised industry dominated by excess, I think a little less consumerism is a wonderful thing. This post today is all about the latest beauty releases and why I feel I don't need them (maybe why you don't too).

In order to get the scoop on the latest releases I have scrolled through FYI Beauty and Trendmood's feeds over on Instagram. Please go over and follow, they are one of the best ways to get the early scoop on makeup/beauty releases.

Without further ado, lets dive in.

Jeffree Star Cosmetics Blue Blooded Collection

The first thing I knew I NEEDED to talk about was the latest collection by the queen of makeup himself Jeffree Star. Now, this latest collection is just so not for me. Your girl is ginger so as you can imagine, blue isn't exactly my colour scheme and liquid highlighters really bring out my skin texture. So I can't explain why but this collection is really speaking to me, I mean come on the campaign is just stunning. The colours, the coffin based packaging, the lip scrub flavours, everything about it just makes me want to throw me savings Jeffree's way and hope I don't look too crazy after bathing in blue highlighter.
On the whole, I don't think I actually will be buying this palette or the highlighters as I just don't have the money to throw round on things I know won't look good for me. The lip scrubs I may circle back to but everything else is a no for me right now.

MAC Electric Wonder Summer Collection

I ADORE the packaging of this. The marble effect gold/pink outer packaging with the golden accents and the way the campaign is presented in the above image just really inspires me and I love the whole aesthetic. The real shame for me is how uninspired I am by the actual products, I feel like its just the sane old release from MAC packaged slightly differently and no doubt with a 100% mark up to match. I don't know if it's just me feeling this way, I used to be so hype about MAC and thought they were the pinnacle of the makeup industry, but in the last 12 months I've really dropped out of caring what they bring out.

Too Faced Crystal Whips

I can't lie, I just don't enjoy Too Faced products so I automatically rule out all their releases. I've tried some products by them before I've found they either don't work for me or I could get just as good a performance out of a drugstore alternative. I also feel like a lot of other brands I prefer have been bringing out these types of liquid shimmer eye shadows so its not really a product I have to buy from them specifically because its available from both high and lower end brands already.

Fenty Body Luminizer (New Shades)

Okay, so just a quick disclaimer.. I've never bought a Fenty product. (Sorry Miss RiRi). Now shade to the brand or anything I just haven't been excited about trying any of their products so far and unfortunately this one is no exception. I didn't buy the Body Luminizer the first release because its just not something I would use, also I'm paler than a sheet of paper so this is just going to make me look like the tin man or C-3PO.

Revolution x Makeup By Tammi Trpoicalc Carnival Palette

Does it still count as an anti haul if I actually really want this palette? So Revolution went back for a round 2 with Tammi and I honestly love the colours and the packaging. The whole vibe of this is so summery and it's giving me warm beer garden cocktails with the girls vibes that I am so down for. I'm currently on a bit of a no buy situation though so I may have to circle back to this in the future. This retails for only £10 so I'm not mad at that price one bit. I actually might hold out and see if any influencers/reviews give it a brilliant review and if its raved about I'll be all over it.

Huda Beauty x Olivia Culpo Lash Collection

Okay, so according to Trendmood this is only the first set out of a full collection. But I can tell you for sure I already know how I feel about the whole thing. I will not be buying any of these. I do not support Huda Beauty in general as her attitude towards the male side of the beauty industry has been made clear and I can't support that. However, these lashes would have been cute if I didn't object to the brand. The other issue I have with this collaboration is the hefty price tag considering all you get is a pair of eyelashes. Now, I guess this would be worth it if you're the type of girl who can save eyelashes for more than one use. But I surely can't be the only girl in the world who's riding the hot mess express straight to losing my eyelashes after only wearing once every time without fail. For me, even if i supported Huda, £19 for what will be a single use pair of eyelashes is not it.

Kat Von D Crush on Blush

Do I actually have to explain why I don't want or need this? Or why you likely don't? Not only is KVD a slightly questionable brand to buy from, this is just such an unnecessary release. There is nothing to see here. LITERALLY. A mini blush and highlighter palette would be goo for travel I will give it that, but honestly there are a million other similar products you could buy cheaper and it will be the same or even better quality. I mean, the front packaging is cute (love the Gothic font with the reflective and glittery finish) and I like the fact it has a mirror but that's all that is different or interesting about this release. I'm just not here for it, or for her, sorry.

Coloured Raine Safari Raine Collection

Okay, this palette is pretty. The packaging is nice and I like the colour story. but it's not something I couldn't dupe from my collection. I already have all of these colours in other palettes and the lipstick colours aren't anything I don't already have. So while this release is cute, I just wouldn't spend my money on it because I don't need to. That one deep brown lipstick is really pretty though and I may keep an eye out to see if it goes on sale or sweep the internet for some dupes.

Alright beginners, that's it for today. As always comment down below and let me know your thoughts. What are you not buying lately? Is there anything you disagree with my opinion on?
