My Daily Skincare Routine

Hello beginners, happy Thursday and welcome back to another nonsense rambling by me.

Today's post is all about my least favourite beauty step: Skincare. Now, skincare is probably only my least favourite because I'm lazy and forget to do it like 90% of the time. Calling this a 'daily' skincare routine is bold if I'm honest.

My skin is dry, spotty and oily in small and specific patches. So those are the needs I'm working with when it comes to a skincare regimen. On the days I remember and find the time to try to improve the health of my skin these are my focus areas.

Morning Routine

Cleanser

My current favourite cleanser is the Tarte Deep Dive Cleansing Gel. I really feel like this gets up in my pores and gives my face a thorough clean. It's one of the only cleansers I've found that doesn't dry out my skin or add to the oily patches. I like to use one pump, straight onto fingertips and rub in tiny circles all over my face. Continue circles for 60 seconds and then rinse off. This product has been part of my routine for about 3 months now and I personally don't think I would try any others.

Toner

At the moment I am using Simple Kind to Skin Soothing Facial Toner. I've only recently come back to this product after being convinced for a long time that toner doesn't do anything. I can't lie, I'm still not really sure what it does but the Simple one contains Vitamin B and Witch hazel both of which have been proven to be very good for your skin and for reducing pores. I usually apply this product onto a clean cotton pad and wipe (upwards motion to reduce wrinkles) across my face.

Eye Cream

I use the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Brightening Eye Cream and I've actually been really liking this product. I suffer a bit with dark circles in my under eye area. This eye cream boasts of being infused with mulberry and kiwi extracts. Kiwi is full of Vitamin C which is known for brightening skin and mulberry is believed to brighten and correct discolouration of skin. I've definitely seen a difference since I started using it and a few people have told me I look 'well rested' so hopefully that means it's visibly changing the dark bags!

Spot Treatment

Burt's Bees Anti Blemish Solutions is my latest buy to try to get rid of my broken out skin. Most of the spots I get are along the bottom half of my face and around my nose so this is where I like to apply the product. I was always told not to treat the skin with something it doesn't need so I don't use this product along my T-Zone or in any other areas I don't get spots. This product has natural salicylic acid and willow bark extract that is known to reduce acne and prevent further breakouts. I've been trying for approximately 7 years now to find a product that works for more than a few months for me so I'll keep you all updated on how this goes. When applying this product I like to dab a small amount onto a cotton pad and then gently dot onto blemishes areas.

Moisturiser

For a good few months now I've been flipping through two different moisturisers depending how dry my skin feels. If my skin is only lightly dry I like to use the Nivea Refreshingly Soft Moisturising Cream, this product is great for every day use and I like that it doubles as a hand cream so it's a two in one job. The product contains Jojaba oil and vitamin E which are both good for maintaining and promoting hydration in your skin. I like to apply this product by dotting over the face and then using upwards motions to rub it in.

The other moisturiser I have been trying lately is the Tarte Drink of H20 Hydrating Boost. For me, this product just reaches a deeper level of hydration and really brings my skin back to a good state on a very dry day. I don't use it for every day generally as I don't always need that extra level of hydration and the product is quite expensive and you don't get that much product so I don't like to use it if I don't need to. I use the same method to apply as with the Nivea.

Moisture Spray

This Mario Badescu Facial Spray is the way I've been finishing my skincare routine for a very long time now. Nothing makes you feel good about yourself and refreshed the way this spray does. On my worst skin days I like to give a spritz a few times throughout the day just to keep the hydration going. In the mornings the cucumber and green tea infused spray is very refreshing and hydrating, but of an evening/night I much prefer to use the lavender, aloe and chamomile one as they are smells that are associated with helping to promote healthy sleep routine and soothing skin. I also have the rose water one but I use this much less often due to finding the smell over powering.

Night Routine

Cleanser - the same
Toner - the same
Tonic

At night I've been using this Pixi Rose Tonic lately. It is supposed to tone, soothe skin and balance PH levels. I've only been trying this a few weeks so haven't really noticed any difference yet but I've always heard good things about the Pixi skincare range and I will do a skincare update in the future to talk about whether this changed anything for me.

Eye Cream  - the same
Moisturiser - the same (need dependant)
Night Cream

For a night cream I have been using this one by Avon, its the Anew Vitale Night Cream. I have been using this night cream for a few years now so I can't really remember what made me start using it. I love the feel of it on the skin and it smells amazing so I have stuck by it as long as I've been using night cream in my routine. Everyone has products they've used for so long they can't remember why they even like them right? No? Just me? Well then.. I apply this product the same as I would a moisturiser, dot onto the face and then gentle upwards motions to sink into the skin.

Moisture Spray - the same (lavender one)

And that's it, simple enough isn't it.? (Well it should be). I really must remember to take better care of my skin as it's so important. I'm hoping this post will give me the kick up the bum I need to start adhering to this daily.

There are also a few products such as face masks that I use on a none daily basis so let me know if you'd like to see them in another post and I will get onto that. Leave me a comment down below and let me know what you think of my routine and anything you think I should try.
